I took a circuitous route to making domestic earthenware pottery. I have always been involved in making things from clay, and beginning at Primary School, I have always managed to do a bit of pottery alongside everything else, and this led me to take a part time course in 3D Design in Brighton. Then I was lucky enough to get a place to study for an M.A in Ceramics at Cardiff University where I specialised in ceramic sculpture using raw and fired clay in combination with other materials such as wire, cloth, straw and oil.
Since moving to Dorset in 1993 and joining up with the other potters, I have been learning the challenging craft of useful pottery. Focussing mainly on plates and bowls has allowed me to experiment with colours , patterns and textures to produce everyday functional things that are not too precious to use.
